About Buckinghamshire County Council (previously Aylesbury Vale County Council)
In November 2018 the Secretary of State for Housing Communities and Local Government announced a single unitary authority for Buckinghamshire. From 1 April 2020, Aylesbury Vale District Council, Buckinghamshire County Council, Chiltern District Council, South Bucks District Council and Wycombe District Council were replaced by a single, new Buckinghamshire Council. This was deemed “the biggest change in the county's local government history”. Buckinghamshire Council will be responsible for providing all services for the 546,000 residents of Buckinghamshire. Including the administration of council tax collections, benefits, parking collections and business rates. Aylesbury Vale’s population has risen by 10.3 per cent since 2013, an increase of 18,573 residents. This has been the 8th highest rate of growth among the 371 local authorities in Great Britain. and the 20th highest absolute growth, ahead of the cities of Manchester and Liverpool.
